Naked Scanner is harmless: My first hand experience

Naked Scanner is harmless: My first hand experience

I had to go through the “Naked scanner” recently for one of my trips. There’s nothing to worry about.

The operator showed me how it works. No one can see the screen except the operator. It has a convenient touch screen interface. There’s an auto-crop feature if you press the “share wtih facebook” or “share with twittter” button.

I can see where the $200K went.

No need to fear fellow travelers.

Popcorn and Nachos with Bullets: Just another day in Scarborough

The soundproofing at Cineplex Odeon Theatre at Eglinton Town is fantastic.

I heard none of the 6 or so gunshots that happened less than a 100 feet away from the theatre I was sitting in.

There’s a good chance the gunman was in this picture I took at 6:24pm last night. The shooting happened around 7:30pm after someone called the police reporting they’d seen someone with a gun.

With that many people and a lot of frustration about sold out shows, it’s not that surprising someone would lose his mind enough to show his gun. But why go to a theatre with a gun? It reminds me of the joke told better by Chris Rock at 58 seconds (NSFW).

Gunman in the crowd? Taken less than an hour before the shooting at Cineplex

After theatre staff said that “due to certain circumstances, you cannot use the main exit”, everyone wondered what happened.

I asked another staff member and he said there was a “shooting”. I was a bit surprised they let us finish the movie when we were so close to the event. I guess the Police felt that there would be more of a threat from movie watchers who were stopped in the middle of the Blue Man Group documentary.

Regardless, we were all safe. We just needed to check our cars for stray bullet holes. Just another day in Scarborough.

Police created a big perimeter around the entrance of Cineplex after the shooting

Naughty list has Jayden’s name in bold

Stealing from Santa will definitely get you on the Naughty list, but Jayden still somehow charms his way to getting gifts for Christmas.

Naughty List: Jayden stealing from Santa

Out of all the Christmas cards and pictures that were sent to me. This is my favorite. It’s pure and honest terror.

    Pure Terror: Gabriel with Santa

Here are some other Santa pictures from this year and years past.

It’s really hard to do that with your voice and still sound good. Pretty remarkable.

Base Jumping in HD with GoPro

This thing is crazy. Teo has one, but I don’t think he’s doing anything like this.

Custom Monopoly game by RIM. No anti-trust pun intended.

Every year, RIM gives its employees something called “RIM Wear” to commemorate the year. In previous years, RIM gave clothes, but since 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of RIM and the 10th anniversary of BlackBerry, they decided to give us something special.

I’ve never played Monopoly before, but I guess it’s never too late to start. It looks like they put a lot into the game to make it truly customized, but also retain the Monopoly feel. If you can’t see the browser above or prefer to see the pictures in a traditional way, I have also put the RIM Wear 2009 pics on Flickr.

Windows: the tool of the enemies!

Iraqi insurgents have reportedly intercepted live video feeds from the U.S. military’s Predator drones using a $25.95 Windows application that allows them to track the pilotless aircraft undetected.

Thrifty hacking method for accessing highly classified US military data. There’s no iPhone app for that! How embarrassing.

    California Photo Wall

I built this with my favorite media browser, Cooliris. I love this technology. They took away infinite browsing, but it’s still very cool.
