Eventful days recently
2008 certainly is shaping up to be just as eventful if not more than 2007.
Friday was my last day at Amazon. The decision to leave Amazon and Seattle has been extremely tough and stressful. It is evident both physically and emotionally. The decision was predominantly a family one rather than a professional one. Dy, Jayden, and I leave a group of friends, family, and colleagues with whom we’ve created indelible memories. We will certainly miss them all.
Friday the 13th was also an unfortunate one for the Mendoza family. My uncle, Armando Mendoza, my dad’s eldest brother, died due to heart and lung complications. His health has been faltering the past few months. I am sure he took comfort in the presence of his children and siblings in his last moments.
Saturday and Sunday played a different tone. Saturday, Dy and i celebrated our 10 year (dating) anniversary. Today, I celebrated my first father’s day. Dy and Jayden in addition to my other nuclear family spent the day with me in my corporate housing in the west end of Toronto. They’re company, Dy’s family’s company yesterday helped quell the solemn tone of the previous days.
Tomorrow is a new start with a familiar company. I restart my career with Research in Motion with whom I interned a half decade ago. Life is bitter sweet, but I’m thankful for everything and have much to look forward to.
