Happy Birthday Mom!
It’s my mom’s birthday today so a massive happy birthday goes out to her.
No one has more patience and love than that woman!
Love ya mom!

As you might have noticed, I’m having troubles with my gallery.
It’s slow and not creating thumbnails properly. A lot of this has to do with my new webhost….
I’m thinking of switching again…
I have been away from Seattle for 9 days now. It’s felt like a really long time. I spent this week with Amazon’s subsidiary, A2Z, in San Francisco. There were many meetings, discussions, and arguments, but they were very good hosts. It was my first time seeing one of Amazon’s satellite companies and it’s interesting to see the difference in culture. They seem more small business oriented while back at the mothership in Seattle, you can feel the corporation a lot more. For example, their meetings are few, informal, and impromptu. While in Seattle, they’re many, structured, and scheduled.
My accomodations were very comfortable. I was located in Union Square around the shopping district. The shopping district here is pretty high end. Deal hunters won’t be satiated shopping here. My hotel had an interesting fitness room. Each treadmill had its own LCD TV. That turned out to be very convenient. In regular fitness centers, you’re pretty much staring at yourself for 30 minutes. I’ll put up pictures later.
Last night, my cousin Melody and her boyfriend, Clarence, took me out. Clarence, aka C+, won San Francisco’s DMC. I haven’t heard his stuff, but I’m sure the champ’s stuff is good. They took me out to a small house party for a dude’s birthday. I haven’t been to a house party in a while, but it felt like a typical one except not as packed. Most of the night my cousin and I just caught up since we haven’t seen or communicated in a decade or so!
Today I’m doing a bit of round tripping the Bay Area. I’ll be visiting my cousins in Lafayette, then my buddy Ben in Palo Alto, then my other cousins in Fremont. It’ll be another busy day, but I’m sure it’ll be fun. I head back to reality tomorrow.
I’m in the san francisco/bay area right now working at Amazon’s subsidiary, a2z. Things are stable right now, but my journey here was the interesting part.
What seems like ages ago, Glen and Roheth visited me in Seattle for two days. At the end of their trip, Dy came to Seattle to visit. After almost a week in Seattle, Dy and I headed to LA to claim my prize for winning an award at work. We watched the 50 cent et al at the Amazon Fishbowl. If you actually click on the link and play it, you can see Dy and I clapping in the front row near the beginning of the episode. After visiting my cousins, we made a road trip in a red mustang to Vegas. In Vegas, we visited an old friend, Ryan, and of course did the walk on the strip.
Dy headed back to Toronto from there while I fell asleep at the gate and missed my flight! After seven hours in standby, I eventually made it to San Francisco where I’m sitting right now in my hotel.
Well…that’s the reader’s digest version..I’ve begun to upload some pictures of my journey, but my server does not create thumbnails properly so things may look messed up.
It’s been a busy past few days. Glen and Roheth visited from Thursday to Friday.
Dy is here now.
Dy and I will be watching 50 cent in the Amazon fishbowl this Thursday in LA before we go to Vegas.
I will also be spending all next week on a business trip in San Francisco.
I’m sure San Francisco will be fun, but it will also be a lot of very hard work.
ok everybody…
seattle is a good place to visit…but you gotta stay more than 2 days to really appreciate it…
ray’s apartment is crazy… HE HAS A FREAKIN DOORMAN!!!
everything in seattle is walking distance so you can go anywhere
one important note….there are crazy people everywhere…ie. people boxing with trees, people with involuntary twitches but are really voluntary…people who just like to yell random things…think of one…i’ve seen it!!!
put it this way…i’m coming back….but staying away from the cookoo people…
What up ray…
on your computer right now…
man…your computer screen still hurts my eyes!!! TOO BIG!!! LOL
It’s august and summer is quickly passing by. I can tell by the back to school ads everywhere. This is my second summer not being affected by such advertisements and I still don’t really miss school at all. Speaking of which, there’s a reunion already scheduled. I highly doubt I’ll go. Reunions are more meaningful when more time passes. I wouldn’t mind going to a high school reunion though.
Anyways, recently Amazon had the annual company picnic. I put up pictures in the media gallery. Gallery is acting up and not generating the thumbnails and resized images properly. The picnic was fun. We lost in the finals of broomball, but what can you do with a team full of geeks right? If you don’t know, broomball is the official company sport. It’s like soccer except you replace the ball with a big exercise ball and your legs with an actual broom. Eventhough I lost there, I did win first place in the 16 and over sack race. What an achievement eh? I proved to have the most hops out of a field of kids and parents. I was pretty far ahead in the last 10 yards until the dude in second place made a head first dive across the line. He didn’t catch me, but he gets an A for effort.
Another highlight must have been the “knock the bottles off the table” game. You know, the one where you throw a ball and try to knock a stack of bottles off. Brandon‘s girlfriend, Amada, went first and almost knocked all of them off. That put the pressure on the three other males in line. Sure enough, two males failed to top her score. As the last guy came up, Amanda taunted him slightly about his gender’s performance. Her head games seemed to work as he scored worse than everyone else. Her taunts actually ignited a signature laugh that revealed that the low scorer was actually Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. His attire was aligned with his down to earth demeanour. I took a picture of him as we walked away from the game. He’s the dude in the hat with his hands on the shoulders of his kid.
